  Setting up your Newsgroups

Currently KVINet only supports newsgroups through Outlook Express, though we fully intend to change that in the near future. If you use a different newsgroup reader you should contact the developer of that software for support and setup instructions. Our news server is news.kvinet.com and requires no special login instructions. To get started setting up your newsgroups in Outlook Express make sure that the program is open. When it is look for the menu bar at the top, it will look like this:

When you find it click on the word Tools and you will see a menu appear that looks like this:

On this menu click on the word Accounts near the bottom. When you click on Accounts a completely new window will appear named Internet Accounts. You have four tabs here to choose from, All, Mail, News, and Directory Services. You want to click on the News tab and it will look like this:

On this window you will click the Add button at the top right and then select news. It will bring up a new window that looks very similar to the email account setup steps.

The first step is asking for your name, please enter your first and last names as shown in the example below the input box. When you have your first and last names entered, click the Next button and you will see the following window:

Here you want to enter your email address, this should be your KVINet email address but it doesn't have to be. Once you have this entered you need to click the Next button and you will now see this window:

This window is asking for the Internet News (NNTP) server. In the box provided you need to enter news.kvinet.com in all lower case letters. Make sure that your CAPS Lock key isn't on and that you do not enter news@kvinet.com. Once you have this entered click the Next button.

You have completed setting up your KVINet News account. Click the finish button and you will return to the Internet Accounts window. Once there, just click close to return to Outlook Express.
